National Sport Participation Strategy

HAVE YOUR SAY!

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) invites you to provide feedback and input into the development of the Australian Sports Commission’s National Sport Participation Strategy through an online survey.

https://www.ausport.gov.au/national-sport-participation-strategy-2032

The Strategy aims to transform the way sport participation is connected, delivered and supported in Australia and covers a range of areas including:

  • the challenges participants face

  • behavioural trends at grassroots levels

  • what the investment priorities should be in the coming years.

The survey will only take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and your responses will remain anonymous.

Survey closes 5pm, 16 June 2023.

2022 SCWA Strategic Planning Workshop

The 2022 SCWA Strategic Planning workshop was held at Cleaver Street B-Side, Sunday 17th July.

We invited representatives from our climbing members, climbing gyms and our board members and people from the local climbing community to discuss our vision and mission for the next 5 years.

Facilitated by David Paré, we were joined by SCA National Representative, Mercedes Yanev, who updated us on the national direction of sport climbing.

We sincerely thank all who participated for their generous donation of time and ideas. Your input drive our climbing community forward with wider recognition of and participation in the sport we all love.

Stay tuned for our Strategic Plan release in the coming weeks!

Thanks for Everyone at 2021 Bouldering States

What an incredible weekend of bouldering that was!

SCWA would like to thank all the climbers that entered and made this our biggest state competition yet. You came and crushed. Thanks to your friends and family who supported and cheered.

We’d like to thank our setters headed by Mitch Day who created problems that wowed, intimidated and ultimately tested our climbers to the limits.

Thanks to our volunteers, judges, cake makers, media streamers, DJ Tess, marshalls, scorers… So many little jobs that go towards making the big job run smoothly.

This event would not have happened without a home and Iris Boulders provided a terrific space. A massive thank you to Marko and the team for making the gym available for four days.

We must also give a shout out to Deanna Whyte and Dave Haywood of @deannawhytephotography who once again spent the weekend taking thousands of photos, capturing every moment of the magic! (www.deannawhyte.com.au).

An event like this takes a lot of organising and effort from volunteers and board members. When you pay your SCWA / SCA registration fees, you are helping to grow our sport so we’d like to give a special thanks to our members for sticking with us.

We are all aware of the limitations and frustrations many other states and territories worldwide are experiencing so for us to be able to enjoy such a phenomenal event not just celebrates WA’s success, but helps keep bouldering’s light burning bright worldwide. Thank you all for being a part of it. Until next time!
