SCWA COMPETITIONS

Volunteers are needed for all events in the SCWA Calendar. The events are all 100% volunteer run and we really need the help our our wonderful community to continue running them.

If you’d like to volunteer for any of the roles below please fill out the application form and we will be in contact.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

  • Judges

    • This role involves calling competitors when it is their turn to climb and recording their results on the score sheets. No experience judging is necessary, however some understanding of competition climbing is an advantage. Training will be provided.

  • Belaying

    • This role involves checking the equipment of competitors and belaying them during their competition climbs. Belayers need to be experienced in either Top rope or Lead belaying, depending on which session they are volunteering for. Training will be provided to ensure competition-style belaying and safety standards are met.

  • Isolation Officials

    • The role of isolation officials is to monitor the isolation area during the finals rounds, ensuring competitors follow isolation rules, ushering competitors to the correct climb & escorting competitors to the toilet.

  • Other roles

    • There are many small tasks that need doing during competition events, like registering competitors, scrubbing holds, setup and pack up.

For those of you who have volunteered before, on behalf of SCWA, SCA, the climbers: well done, thanks, and we hope to see you all at the next competition!
